About Invest in Youth

Invest in Youth...is a business-to-youth tutoring program created in 1997 by financial advisor Harriett Morton and sponsored by her firm, Morton Clarke Fu & Metcalf. Harriett created a tutoring program specifically for financial professionals who could choose to be available after 3 PM because of the early market closing on the West Coast. The program has since expanded to include tutors from other professions.

Time is an Asset...participating in Invest in Youth requires a tutoring commitment of one hour every week for the duration of the school year. You are paired with a student at the beginning of the year, and work with the same student for the entire year. The student's teacher conveys to each tutor what areas the student needs extra help in, and that is where your job starts.

Head Home a Hero...
by participating in Invest in Youth you are contributing positively to a young persons academic life, and you are giving back to your community. Students participating in Invest in Youth typically are from low-income backgrounds and do not have the support network at home to succeed academically. You can be that young person's support network that pushes them toward academic success.

Invest in Youth tutors focus on:

Reading
,
Math and Homework

Tutors help the students with their homework for a half-hour and then focus primarily on reading and other skill building activities!
